Vintage Kodak Camera

Are you an amateur photographer trying to take professional looking product pictures?  There are a lot of filters and programs you can use, but we were looking for something more to help with our product pictures.

Taking product pictures for our website was fun, and we loved being creative – using a wood table for one product, using a granite counter top for another.  The problem was our pictures on the website started to look too random, like pictures from a scrapbook.  The hardest part is the lighting, there always seemed to be shadows, reflections, and other unwanted effects showing up.  I wanted them to look more professional and cohesive, but we’re not in a position yet to hire a professional photographer.  A fellow business owner, Christian from Head Over Heels Bath and Body, wrote a wonderful blog post about taking photos.  She had shared a link to Handmadeology showing how to make your our light box out of cardboard and white foam core.  I mentioned it to my husband, and the next thing I know, I received this great kit in the mail.  He loves to do research and find me great products to try for the business (one of the many things I love about him!).

Updates coming......

I can’t wait to start experimenting with new pictures!

Did I mention we are also in the process of updating our website to give it a more modern, clean feel?  We will be rolling it out in the next week or so. Great timing, I’d say – new professional looking pictures just in time for our new website feel!

Can’t wait to share the results with you!

Do you have any tips for taking great looking pictures with a light-box?  Would love to hear them!
